Tear trough filler in Stockholm – a rested look
Under eye filler that softens dark circles caused by hollowing. Performed by registered nurses and doctors with long experience, using a product developed specifically for the under-eye area.
What tear trough filler does
The tear trough is the groove that runs in an arc from the inner corner of the eye out towards the cheek. When the area loses volume, the groove deepens and casts a shadow – the "dark circles" that make you look tired even after a full night's sleep. Tear trough filler fills that hollow with hyaluronic acid, softening the shadow and smoothing the transition between eyelid and cheek.
We use Teosyal Redensity II, a hyaluronic acid developed specifically for the thin, delicate skin under the eyes. The consultation – held in English whenever you prefer – always comes first: we assess whether your dark circles are actually caused by a hollow before any needle comes near you. A consultation never involves any obligation to book treatment.
One note on spelling: many people search for and write "tear through" – it is such a common variant that our online booking even lists the service under that name. Tear trough, tear through and under eye filler all refer to the same treatment.
Before and after: what to expect
The change is visible immediately, but the area needs time to settle:
- Straight after: the hollow is smoothed and the gaze looks fresher, though mild swelling is common.
- Days 2–5: swelling and occasionally a small bruise subside – sleep on your back the first nights to help.
- After about two weeks: the final, natural result emerges and is assessed at your follow-up.
Because the area is delicate, we would rather build up gradually and follow up than overfill. At your consultation we are happy to show before-and-after photos from previous treatments so your expectations are realistic.
When we advise against it
Honesty is the point of the consultation, and under the eyes it matters more than anywhere else. We advise against tear trough filler when:
- Your main issue is bags, not hollows. Filler evens out indentations – it does not remove protruding fat pads, and can even accentuate them.
- Your darkness comes from pigmentation or visible vessels. Filling a shadow that is not there will not change the colour of the skin.
- The skin is very loose, or you have an active infection, are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Many also ask about Botox under the eyes for dark circles or bags – and here we usually advise against it too. Botox relaxes muscle; it adds no volume and affects neither pigment nor fat. For dark circles caused by hollowing, filler is the tool that works.
Safety in a delicate area
The under-eye region is one of the most vascular areas of the face, which is why experience matters here more than routine. Every treatment is performed by registered nurses and doctors with long experience, with ultrasound guidance available when needed to map the blood vessels. And because we only use hyaluronic acid, the result can always be adjusted – or fully dissolved with Hyalase.

Tear trough filler – FAQ
What exactly is the tear trough?
The tear trough is the anatomical groove that runs from the inner corner of the eye out towards the cheek. As it deepens with volume loss, it casts the shadow most people describe as dark circles. The name is also used for the filler treatment of the area – and many write it as "tear through", which refers to the same thing.
Does under eye filler help with dark circles?
If the darkness is caused by a hollow that casts a shadow, tear trough filler usually gives a very good result. If it is caused by pigmentation or visible blood vessels, filler is the wrong tool – that requires other treatments, and we assess the actual cause at your consultation.
Does filler remove under-eye bags?
Rarely – and sometimes it makes them look worse. Filler evens out hollows and the shadows they create; it does not flatten protruding fat pads. If bags rather than hollowness are your main concern, we will say so honestly instead of treating something that will not look good.
How long does tear trough filler last?
Typically 9–18 months. The under-eye area moves very little, so the result often lasts longer than in mobile areas such as the lips.
What does tear trough filler cost in Stockholm?
At Akademiderm: 3 990 SEK for the treatment, and 1 990 SEK for an adjusting follow-up within one month if needed. The price is fixed before treatment begins, and a consultation never involves any obligation to book treatment.
I have under-eye filler from another clinic that looks wrong – can you fix it?
Yes. Because we only work with hyaluronic acid, misplaced or overfilled product – including work done elsewhere – can be dissolved with Hyalase. We assess the area, with ultrasound when needed, dissolve what is wrong, and can build a new, natural result after a couple of weeks of healing.
