How it works
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) uses your body’s own resources to stimulate healing and renewal. From a small blood sample – drawn like an ordinary blood test – plasma rich in growth factors is separated in a centrifuge and returned with very fine needles to the skin or scalp, where it activates the body’s own repair. Because the material is one hundred percent your own, the risk of reactions is very low, and the treatment suits those who prefer to avoid foreign substances.
PRP for the skin
In the face – with extra focus on tired areas such as under the eyes, around the mouth and along the jawline – PRP wakes the skin’s collagen: tired, thinner skin gradually regains glow, firmness and texture. The same technique works well on the neck, décolletage and hands. PRP is often combined with microneedling, where the plasma is absorbed through the microchannels to reinforce healing and collagen production – the combination sometimes known as the “vampire facial”. Right after treatment the skin is lightly flushed for one to two days; the real result builds over the weeks that follow, and is best after a course of usually 2–3 treatments.
PRP for hair loss
In the scalp, the growth factors activate the hair follicles, can extend the growth phase and improve hair quality. The treatment suits both women and men – in men most often for early thinning at the crown and temples, in women for generally thinning hair – and can also support the new follicles after a hair transplant. Change comes gradually: most people first notice reduced shedding, then denser, stronger hair, usually after 3–6 months once several treatments have taken effect. For reinforced effect, PRP can be combined with a vitamin cocktail (scalp mesotherapy) that feeds the follicles with vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
Honest expectations
PRP is no miracle cure – but used on the right candidate it is one of the most natural tools there is. It works best at an early stage, when there are active follicles to stimulate and skin with good underlying capacity; results vary between individuals and build over a course, not overnight. Where areas are completely bald, the conditions are poor – then we say so, rather than selling a course that cannot deliver, and a hair transplant with a specialist may be the honest answer. The blood draw feels like an ordinary blood test, and the injections are made with very fine needles – with numbing cream when needed. After a scalp treatment you can usually return to your day straight away; after facial treatment the skin is lightly flushed and swollen for one to two days.
